Pathway to Hope offers a limited ultrasound service at no charge. After receiving a positive pregnancy test one of our medical professionals will meet with you and determine if an ultrasound is right for you.

Before making a pregnancy decision it’s important to get clarity, especially if you are thinking about the abortion pill. An ultrasound can provide important information about your pregnancy and help you make the best decision for your health.

Why Do I Need an Ultrasound?

Getting an ultrasound is a painless process that uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of the inside of a woman’s uterus. An ultrasound can tell you a variety of information regarding your pregnancy.

Our limited ultrasounds at Pathway to Hope are performed with the goal of providing the following information:

  • Detecting a heartbeat *
  • Determining how far along the pregnancy is *
  • Estimating a due date *
  • Confirming viability of pregnancy *

Be Alerted of Complications

About 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. But the exact number is likely higher due to many miscarriages occurring very early in pregnancy — before you might even know about a pregnancy.

Another reason an ultrasound is important is the complications it can detect. It could alert you to a possible miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy (where the pregnancy grows outside of the uterus). If either of these complications arises, abortion would not be an option for you, but a possible medical procedure would be done by a medical professional.

After the Ultrasound

Following the limited ultrasound, resources are provided to assist you in making pregnancy-related decisions. The staff at Pathway to Hope can discuss the options you have for your unexpected pregnancy and give you information and guidance based on your unique situation.
